Sally Fender
September 13, 1932 - September 12, 2012
Sara (Sally) nee Boyle Fender was born in Youngstown, OH to Cornelius J. Boyle and Helen B. Dwyer. Her family moved
to Tucson in 1942 where she attended St. Peter & Paul Parochial School, Tucson High School and University of Arizona.
She married her high school sweetheart, Edward M. Fender in 1952.
Sally’s father had studied music and played the organ, including the pipe organ. Under his influence, she took piano and
singing lessons; sang soprano in the church choir, and also for weddings and funerals.
Although she still had a passion for music, she spent most of her adult years as a devoted military wife, homemaker and
mother to their four children.
In honor of Sally's memory, the Oracle Piano Society has created the Sally Fender Memorial Concert Series. This annual festival
of music and art will honor the memory of a woman beloved by her family and community.
